Good afternoon,
I picked up my new Kona Hybrid on the 21st of last month, and am really enjoying the ride.
I have yet to get my head round the tech on the car but hopefully will learn as I go along. (Any tips would of course be welcome)
I do have one issue of which I am not really happy about and that is that the Bluelink that is supposed to come with the car has not as yet managed to connect to the syestem.
The salesperson when trying to connect it for me suggested we were in a poor signal area and that I should try again when I got the car home which I did on numerous occasions but with no success.
Emailed the sales person who assured me they would get the car back in as it was probably an update needed to the system. I then waited a few days with no further communication from them so went to the dealership, saw the general manager who then promised to ring me first thing monday morning with a solution. Guess What? No phone call, so I phoned them and asked to speak to the manager who was of course not answering his phone as he was in a meeting,
Later that day I did get a call from a different mansger who said they could get the car in 4 days later and it would be collected and a courtesy car left for me.
This did actually happen but then I heard nothing until I again had to phone them 3 days later to find out what the problem and delay was and was told that they were in touch with Bluelink but were waiting on a reply from them.
This has now gone on for over a week now and I have suggested that if they are unable to solve the problem perhaps they should replace the car with one that does work or a full refund so I can go elsewhere .
I have bought many cars but have never got to the stage of returning one or asking for a replacement or refund, so if any forum member has been throiugh this I would appreciate any tips on what to do and say.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, sorry its so long winded but look forward to your comments.
New Kona Hybrid Ultimate. But not really happy.
Friday, 2 weeks after the dealership notifies Bluelink about the probem, they finally get a response.
They have asked for the EMEI number of the modem, which has been sent to them, wondering if its going to be another 2 weeks before they respond again.

Hi,
sorry to hear about your Bluelink problems with your car but my Kona Hybrid Ultimate (2021) Bluelink functions are very minimum ie lock/unlock car doors and track my car on my phone! (see my article 'Bluelink Disappointments - Introduction Forums). Unless they have updated all the Bluelink functions with the new Kona I think the salesmen are talking absolute rubbish!! All the Bluelink functions are only available with electric only Kona's.

Hi Zippy,
thank you for your reply, I have sat down and had a serious chat with the manager of the dealership, and he says almost the same as yourself, that the Bluelink functions are very few. He even suggests a lot of customers do not even bother to use them. They will however endeavor to sort out the failure to connect problem and I am assured they are only days away from a solution.
I am enjoying the car but still struggling with some of the functions, one that I used to use a lot on my previous cars was the speed limiter, but as far as I can make out I can only use this in conjunction with the cruise control on the Kona, do you know if there is a way to use just the limiter? The other function I used to us e a lot was safety camera alerts on my previous cars but again these are only available with the Bluelink app, I am told that google maps support this function but not being that tech savvy I dont know how to get them on the screen, I have managed to get apple carplay on and apple maps but thats as far as I have got.
Thanks again for your reply.

I assume the limiter is the same as on the Tucson? (I'm flipping hope so anyway) and it is activated by pressing / holding the cruise control button until it changes mode.
Kona N-Line S (Atlas White) hybrid w Lux Pack and Two-Tone roof (2024 plate)
Not a problem, glad to help. No ideas as to when I get my car. I rejected it today to the dealership due to it being reworked after a collision in transit. Supposedly a cosmetic fix to the bumper but as that took 4 weeks I think it was more. Hyundai can't (or won't) provide a copy of the rework report

I have just got my ultimate ev with lux pack and leather on the 9-8-24 nice to drive but like all links and apps never great I had a Vauxhall corsa top of the range before the apps on that were even worse it sounds like you have a bad customer service problem which seems th be a common problem with dealerships and company in general. We live in a very poor signal area right next to Thetford forest in Suffolk the biggest man made forest in Europe but seem to get by with the Bluelink system never perfect I realise this doesn’t help you but I hope you get it sorted or a refund there is nothing worse than being messed about by management not doing there jobs properly and looking after the customer who pays the wages, fingers crossed I was a mechanic until retirement but all this new technology is still a learning curve for me best of luck from Ray
