Kona 2024 Annoying Safety Systems
I have just taken delivery of a new Electric Kona Advance and the binging, bonging etc is driving me mad. Has any one found away of defeating it yet? I know some can be turned off each time the car is started but I live in the highlands and the single track roads seem to confuse the systems. I constantly get bongs telling me to take a break even when I’ve only driven about 6 miles. If I look at the dash to see what the bing is for I get told off for not looking at the road after 3 seconds. Grrrrrrr. I found that removing module 10 fuse will disable the driver facing camera but the “take a break” warning cannot be deactivated. I am now trying to find the speaker that bongs and disconnect it if possible. Does anyone know where it is?
I’ve found the speaker, it is at the rear of the main header screen and can be removed and unplugged with 3 screws…….peace at last.
You lose the indicator click and some other noises but for me it is a price worth paying. I brought a wire out to a toggle switch so I can turn it on if I want.

Easier than I thought, first use plastic leaver to remove the material cover to to the right of the header unit (RH drive), then push up through revealed hole to release the first clip of the long trim that runs across the top edge behind the header unit and covers the header unit retaining screws, remove the long trim one clip at a time, then remove all the screws (about 6), and with a little wiggling the header unit can be lifted up a couple of cm releasing it. The speaker is on the rear and is obvious.

For me it is not clear which panel you remove to access this. Was the smaller long panel that covers the whole back of the screens?

Actually, I'm finding that its not too bad - so far its speed limit recognition has been accurate, and it only bleeps if I exceed the limit by 5mph which isn't terribly often. The single bleep when the speed limit changes is useful when driving somewhere new, but moderately annoying when I know the road.

Thank you for the explanation and the images! My wife and I are going crazy from the noises in our 2024 Hyundai Kona Hybrid, and we want to do exactly what you did with the switch so we can turn the system on and off. Since I'm not very technical, I want to go to a garage to have it done. Do you have a photo of the switch? I want to show it to them and ask them to make one for us. I was able to disconnect my speaker. However, I did struggle with the four screws hidden behind the fake speaker on the left side (for left wheeldrive). Once removed, it's indeed possible to move up and next tilt the dashboard. The best is to cut one wire of the speaker, and sold two wires of one foot each, with a switch at the end. There is room to have the wires exiting the cabinet of the speaker, then pulling the wired down and maybe attach the switch somewhere to activate/deactivate the pseaker. Replaceing two small pieces was difficult (next the steering column, providing visual sealing with the flexible wall required when tilting the steering column).
Now that I removed the speaker, I understand that it does not prevent all these annoying sound, nor the GPS voice, nor the direction indicator sound.
How the hell did you achieve to disable all these beep?
What s the pourpose of the hidden speaker? Everything continues to worlk after removing it!
