I have a 2024 KONA electric. Recently I did about 200 miles (4.5hrs) of mostly motorway driving with an outside temperature of about 3C. Climate control set to 22C both sides, no heated steering or seats.
With careful driving and full use of regen braking when slowing, I got an average 3.6 m/KWH. In warmer weather I have been able to get close to 5m/KWH on the same trip.
When I looked at the Bluelink App vehicle report for energy consumption it showed Driving 58%, Devices 1%, Climate control 40%, Conditioning 1%.
This thing is supposed to have a heat pump so I was very surprised to see that just keeping warm was taking 40% of my stored energy.
Is this normal for these conditions I was expecting the impact of heating to be much lower.

For diagnostics it's useful to indicate typical climate category power numbers.

The heat pump on the gen-1 Kona is supplemented by the cabin PTC (resistance) heater at low temperatures and I expect the gen-2 is no different.

If the climate power is around 1-1.5kW, that's the heat pump. When it's around 3-4kW, that's the PTC, or both.

At 40% it sounds like the PTC must have played a significant role in heating the cabin. I'm not aware of any OBD data that could identify if the HP is functional.

On my 2018 I can smell the PTC if it switches on. It's like burning dust, while the HP has no smell.

I don't trust the Bluelink vehicle report info display.

I just did a 76 mile journey with an outside temp of 7C and cabin set to 21C.
The car reported an efficiency of 4.3m/Kwh and 25% of the battery used for the journey. The long term average is 4.2 since Oct 24.
The Bluelink vehicle report for the recent journey shows:
Energy consumption 16.38Kwh , Average 4.61m/Kwh, Recouperation 2.19 Kwh.
Driving 96%, Devices 3%, Climate 1%, Battery care 0%
Monthly average consumption 2.10m/Kwh.

The climate %age has this time gone from 40% to 1% , 25% of a 65.4 battery is 16.35Kwh so where's the regen gone, the monthly average is nowhere near 2.10m/Kwh
