I can stop charging with Bluelink.
What if my phone is dead or I can't connect ?
I unlock the doors, but that doesn't stop charging, it only releases the plug lock.
The dash shows charging is continuing, the EVSE LEDs show it's still charging.
I can pull the plug to stop charging, but that's not ideal, it may cause arcing in the plug.
Which button or screen in the car actually stops charging in mid-flight ?
2022 Stop Charging.
Hi michael8554.
With my Electric Kona 2024 one of the lights in the charging box/bay flashes when it is charging but if I unlock the door, while the light remains illuminated, it stops flashing. I believe that if you leave the cable connected after a while the charging starts again, and presumably the light starts flashing again.
So, with yours does the light in the charging box/bay stop flashing when you first unlock the door? In which case I would think it would be safe to unplug it.

The closest I've come to a answer is that when the plug lock is released (there are many ways to do this).
The charge current drops to a low figure and you have 15 seconds to safely pull the plug out.
After 15 seconds, if the plug isn't pulled, the lock goes on and charging current ramps up again.
The premise is that you might unlock the car during charging for some reason, say to put shopping in the car.
The car doesn't want to completely stop the charge session, particularly during a paid-for session at a public charge point, unless you actually want to.
I will check the charge current display on the dash during this procedure.

I've found that according the the dash display the charging drops to 0.5kW when the car is unlocked.
Which is safe to hot disconnect.
