Hi folks.
I'm Matt from South Yorkshire and I'm new to Hyundai cars, a friend had an i20 for a few years and never had a problem with it so I hope that's the experience I will have. I'm also new to EV's so the 2020 Kona EV is definitely going to be something new.
I only test drove it to see what all the fuss was about and then I had to have it, compared to my 11 year old Volvo V40 5 cylinder diesel it is a better ride, faster and so much quieter that keeping to speed limits was a thing, no engine tone to help with that so I will adapt.
I pick it up tomorrow lunch time and have spent the day browsing and fogging my brain about charging networks and potential issues, although part of the finance deal is a free Ohme charger and I also have access to free charging at work so I will very rarely use public charging stations.
I'm looking forward to getting to know my new-to-me Kona, I'm a tech geek so will soon have it figured out.

I need to keep off Amazon, after a near miss in the Volvo today I have bought a dashcam for the Kona, it's worth a bit more so I would like to keep it nice and if it does get hit I would like to be able to prove what happened. In this case a car came the wrong way around a roundabout, not unheard of in that part of town.
Oh and a LED bulb for the boot, I hear that they can stay on and drain the 12v battery so a reduced current draw might help. Jump starting the car from the motorbike would be novel, might get a laugh out of my neighbour if the situation ever happens.

Well I got it and I really like it but 1 small tiny issue I have caused myself, when I reset the Bluelink and logged in, the range is now in KM on the infotainment and the app, but miles on the dash and is set to miles on the app... I can't find anything about it in the PDF version of the owners manual.
Other than that, I'm over the moon with it.

Hi Stonesie.
Welcome to the forum and to Kona. I got mine in April and am still getting used to it. But I am generally pleased.
I too have been surprised and frustrated at the Bluelink app normally (but not always) giving me the remaining "mileage" in kilometers. I have been in touch with app support on several occasions and have been told that it is a known fault and that a fix is in preparation for the next app update. Which sounded good when the told me that in April, they then said it should be updated by early summer, and the latest forecast was "soon", or words to that effect. I have expressed disbelief that it can take them so long to fix such an issue, but am still waiting.
Hopefully we will all be delighted with the app update when it appears, hopefully very soon.
But don't hold your breath.
I hope that clarifies things for you.

Hyundai Kona EV Ultimate 65kW 19" +LUX MY24, Engine Red
Just checked and the app is showing Km again, it was working in miles earlier and the infotainment screen is now in miles so it will do for now.
My latest Amazon buy is a faraday box for the key, it works so not bad for a tenner. A friend lost a brand new BMW by relay theft just last year so a cheap faraday box is money well spent, it came with a faraday pouch too so the spare key is in that.
Maybe I have been a lorry driver for too long but I was quite happy following a HGV at 56 on the motorway using next to no power, trip average of 5.8 mi/Kwh... 19 year old me in a Vauxhall nova with a GT/E engine swap and rally spec exhaust spitting fire and shredding tyres would be confused and ashamed.

Hi my name is Ted and I live in Warwick. Went to the local dealer in January 2024 to look at the new cars, offered us a new Hyundai Kona electric to test, so of we went after about 10 minutes we decided it was the car for us, carried on with test drive for an hour and did a deal on a new Kona ultimate, leather and lux pack in White. Also had the Gardex paint and trim protection.
So far we have had a couple of 100+ mile outings to Wales no problems recharge at Lidl also Instavolt (expensive but quick). Car seems quiet on all types of road quick acceleration to 80 mph. Speed limit assistance chimes in a lot.
Had Kenwood dash and rear cameras fitted in the deal seems ok.

I fitted the Dash cam today and am very impressed for £80 on Amazon, it's a "REDTIGER F9" and comes with a memory card and power socket power supply, which I replaced with a hardwire kit and piggybacked the heated steering wheel fuse.
I will get pics later but it's 4K front/1080p rear.
So not much else really, just been driving it and getting used to regen breaking, I have had a week off work so tonight I will check that works chargers actually work and top it up to 80% as recommended. Oh and also contacted a former colleague who is now a full time detailer, he will machine polish and ceramic cote the car to keep it looking shiny and remove a couple of scratches.

Didn't think this was worth it's own thread but I found a new charger and it is cheaper, mostly for Tesla but it fits and works for the Kona
Octopus want to install new smart meters for electric and gas but that's pushed back my home charger installation and works chargers aren't working yet, so for a couple of weeks the car's got to put up with DC fast charging.

My first niggle, whilst charging at the same charger as above I got the "Check Electric Vehicle System" warning and the charger switched off.
First thing with any electrical device, switch off and on again so I unplugged and locked the car, left it a minute then plugged back in, currently charging happily at a steady 58kWh.
I don't think it's worth bothering the dealership about it as long as it's not going to become a regular thing.

Hi All,
Just got my 74 plate EV Kona N Line S last week. loving the car thus far.
Only thing i find annoying is:
1. having to constantly turn off the speed warnings.
2. The fact that even after only driving for around 3minutes I get the coffee symbol and other morning it said please take a break and couldnt get it to stop beeping at me.
