I owned a Kona back in 2022, all good except for confidence in the braking capability. I had it checked and a few things were changed out but the ‘feel’ still was still uncomfortably. I changed the car.

I then bought another near new Kona, but Hybrid, in 2023. I still found unhappiness with the braking system. This time I experience slight shuddering when breaking firmly, eg roundabouts. I also feel uncomfortable in its stopping power if needed in emergency.

Has anyone else had similar experiences.

Sorry to hear of your cocern.

I normally try and avoid hard braking but I tried it on a quiet road this morning and detected what might be described as a shudder but I am fairly sure that it was the ABS. This is designed to release the brakes and quickly reapply them, to help bring you to a safe stop as quickly as possible. So if that is what you detected the car appears to be working as designed and should be safe. Your garage should be able to confirm this.

I hope this helps.
